In sessions, keynotes and on the tradeshow floor, the word of the day seemed to be “change.” In fact, this year’s official theme was “Explore. Expand. Exchange. Evolve.” ESX was held in Nashville June 12-16, and most agreed this is a great venue. Next year’s event will return to Nashville, June 19-22, 2018, an announcement that was met with cheers.
The Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) has recognized Engineered Protection Systems Inc. in Grand Rapids, Mich., with its 2016-17 Police Dispatch Quality (PDQ) award. The PDQ award is given to the company that promotes best practices working with law enforcement to reduce the number of unnecessary dispatches to alarm customers. The award was presented at the ESX - Public Safety and Networking Luncheon at ESX on June 16th in Nashville, Tenn.

Habitec Security, ranked No. 53 on the SDM 100, has acquired three companies: Sentinel Alarm Company of Columbus, Ohio; MetaSECURE, a division of MetaLINK, of Defiance, Ohio; and Central Security & Electronics of Traverse City, Mich. The acquisitions allow Habitec to grow in all three of their branch offices.
Sonitrol of the Triangle, a provider of commercial security systems in Raleigh, N.C. for nearly 20 years and ranked No. 97 on the SDM 100, has acquired Sonitrol of the Triad in Greensboro, N.C.
Eagle Eye Networks Inc. has acquired Panasonic Cloud Management Services Europe B.V. (PCMSEU), makers of Panasonic CameraManager and Panasonic Nubo. PCMSEU operated the largest number of cloud recorded cameras in Europe.
Select Security, ranked No. 32 on the SDM 100, acquired Charlotte, N.C.-based Intelligent Technology Inc. and Carolina Security Group following its entry into the territory late last year, adding nearly 1,000 new customers and key team members to its existing branch operation.
