Tommy the tech installed his connection from the alarm system RJ31x to the network interface jack shown here. The phone company kept disconnecting his wiring. What did he do wrong? View the next slide for the answer.

He opened the network interface main compartment, which is for phone company use only. The NIJ provides alternate screws for attaching both house wiring and alarm wiring, and a disconnecting jack to test the lines. He should have installed the wiring as shown here, removing the bridging clips. The red and green wires are directly connected to the incoming phone line. The house phone wires would then be connected to the same screws as the screw he used for his white and black wires, thus providing proper line seizure.
