The Electronic Security Association (ESA) is now accepting entries to its 2020 Youth Scholarship Program — a philanthropic endeavor that aims to support the futures of sons and daughters of first responders.

American Alarm and Communications announced today it has completed the acquisition of Eaglestar Security Inc. of Sutton, Mass. which provided security, access control, video and fire alarm services for 950 homes and businesses, primarily in Central Massachusetts.

The New Jersey Electronic Security Association (NJESA) announced that it has changed its name to the New Jersey Electronic Life Safety Association (NJELSA) effective immediately.

The Monitoring Association’s (TMA) highest honor, the Stanley C. Lott Memorial Award for Exemplary Service, was presented to former TMA president and past executive director Jay Hauhn at the 2019 Annual Meeting in Napa, Calif. on October 16. The award honors Hauhn’s dedication and service to TMA and the monitoring industry over the course of his career, which spans more than 40 years.  

The Monitoring Association (TMA) will reopen a review of the TMA CS-V-O1 standard, Alarm Confirmation, Verification and Notification Procedures. This standard defines methods by which false notifications for signals received from security systems can be greatly reduced. It has been proven that confirming and verifying an alarm signal by a supervising station will drastically reduce false notifications.

The City of Cincinnati is the latest agency to implement Automated Secure Alarm Protocol (ASAP), technology that automates communication between alarm monitoring central stations and Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs)/ 911 centers, resulting in faster, more accurate emergency responses for users of monitored alarms. 

ADT, a smart home security provider serving residential and business customers ranked No. 1 on the SDM 100, has taken another step to enhance its owned and operated professional monitoring services by acquiring I-View Now, a video alarm verification service. 

The Monitoring Association (TMA) announced that Don Young, CIO and EVP of operations at ADT, is the new president of the association, and officially began his two-year term today at the conclusion of TMA’s 2019 Annual Meeting.
